MasterChef Tonight, Sept. 9, 2026: Finale Part 1 Time, Channel and the Final 3

- 8 p.m. ET on FOX — season 16, episode 17, "Finale Part 1."
- Heidi Muston, Jake Kelley and Peter Egede cook a three-course menu built from their own backgrounds.
- No trophy tonight. The $250,000 and the title land next Wednesday, Sept. 16, in Part 2.
The Global Gauntlet has been running since April, and it comes down to three home cooks and two Wednesdays. Tonight is the first of them.
What time is MasterChef on tonight?
FOX has it in the 8 p.m. hour, one hour long.

| Central | 7 p.m. | FOX |
| Mountain | 7 p.m. | FOX |
| Pacific | 8 p.m. | FOX |

If you have a pay-TV login, the FOX app carries the live feed in most markets. Everyone else waits for the Hulu drop the next morning.
What happens in Finale Part 1?
FOX's synopsis is unusually specific: the three finalists cook an exceptional three-course menu inspired by their roots, in front of family and a studio audience, with Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Tiffany Derry watching every plate.
Roots is not a throwaway word this season. Each of these cooks has spent four months representing a country in a bracket built around heritage, so a three-course "where I come from" menu is the format collecting on its own premise.

Who is still cooking?
The Sept. 2 semifinal ran two eliminations back to back and left three.
| Finalist | Age | Home | Represents |
|---|---|---|---|
| Heidi Muston | 51 | Fort Lauderdale, Fla. | South Africa |
| Jake Kelley | 24 | Alma, Mich. | Mexico |
| Peter Egede | 29 | Atlanta, Ga. | Nigeria |
Basia Newman and Julia Cili were the two cut last week. Our season 16 tracker has the full elimination order and gets the winner's name the night it airs.

Does anyone go home tonight?
FOX's description of Part 1 says nothing about a cut, and next week's description still refers to "the finalists" presenting Global Gauntlet dishes. Read together, that points to all three carrying over into Sept. 16 with tonight's scores in hand rather than a third-place exit at the end of the hour.
👉 Treat tonight as the first half of a scorecard, not an elimination.
What to watch for
- Course pacing. Three courses in one hour of screen time means the edit will hide the timing. Watch which cook is still plating dessert when Ramsay starts walking.
- The family row. This is the one night the audience is stocked with relatives, and it has wrecked composure in past finales.
- Team Africa's two. Muston and Egede both came through the same division, which is rare for a bracket designed to spread finalists across the map.
Where can I stream it after it airs?
Hulu, the following day, same as every other FOX episode this season. If you are stacking cooking shows this fall, our streaming guide covers the cable side, and the fall schedule lays out which night belongs to which show.
