What happens in the premiere?
FOX's episode description gives one concrete detail: the new chefs open with the Signature Dish Challenge, the plate each one picks to introduce themselves to Ramsay. The listing frames the season around a generation that grew up with the show already on the air. Nobody went home in the premiere; the two lowest scorers, Valentin and Sandra, were called forward and the episode cut away.
Eighteen chefs are in the field, all 25 or younger. That makes it the show's second age-capped season, after season 20. They split into red and blue teams, and filming took place at Hell's Kitchen at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut. Past winners turn up in the anniversary opener. Ramsay's other FOX show, MasterChef, finished its season on Sept. 16, so the cooking night moves from Wednesday to Thursday. Names and hometowns are in our season 25 guide, and this page tracks whether it's on each week.
