What If Christmas Cast and Premiere Date

Short version: What If Christmas premieres Sunday, Oct. 25, at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel. Lori Loughlin and Tom Cavanagh play a married couple, Erin and Adam, and Hallmark's page for the movie says it streams on Hallmark+ the next day, Monday, Oct. 26.

All five are on the showtimes list of Hallmark Channel's own page for the movie, which we checked Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 10:11 a.m. ET. Hallmark writes the last one as "10a/9c," so that Thanksgiving-eve airing is a morning slot. The two late-October encores also show up on Hallmark's day-by-day schedule, which ran through Oct. 31 when we looked. The November dates are further out than that grid goes and could still move.

It's the sixth new movie of Countdown to Christmas 2026 and it closes the second weekend, after Winter Wonderlanes on Friday and Forgotten Holiday on Saturday.

Who are Lori Loughlin and Tom Cavanagh playing?

Hallmark's cast page has two names on it. No one else is credited there yet, and the network gives the characters first names only.

Loughlin's network bio says she was back as Abigail Stanton in the 13th season of When Calls the Heart and is due in six episodes of season 14. It also puts her in the newest Garage Sale Mysteries title, Murder Takes the Stage. Longtime viewers may remember she created and starred in Summerland for The WB, too.

Cavanagh is the Ottawa-born actor who spent four seasons as the bowling-alley lawyer on Ed, then close to a decade on The Flash, where he also directed. Hallmark viewers have seen him before: his bio lists the Darrow & Darrow franchise for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. So both leads arrive with a Hallmark mystery series on the resume, which is a fun bit of casting for a romance.

Hallmark's pages don't name a director or writer, and TVLine's rundown doesn't either. We've left both out.

What's the story?

Erin has spent years backing her husband's career. Adam is a heart surgeon, and she ran his hospital's Christmas charity galas. Then he moves to a new hospital, and her help isn't needed anymore.

With nothing to organize, an old regret comes back: she once wanted to be a fashion designer and gave it up. Someone hands her an odd heart-shaped Christmas ornament. She wakes up in another version of her life, where she's a famous designer and Adam is a man she has to meet for the first time.

That's the premise from Hallmark's synopsis, in our words. TVLine sums up the twist as Erin finding out what life looks like without him. The network's description hints the dream job is lonelier than she pictured. How she gets home is for Oct. 25.

Can you stream What If Christmas?

Yes, a day late. The movie page carries a "Streaming Next Day on Hallmark+" line, which points to Monday, Oct. 26. Hallmark+ doesn't carry the live channel, though. Watching the Sunday premiere as it airs takes Hallmark Channel itself, through cable, satellite or a live TV streaming bundle.
